How will I distribute my Project?

PLAN

INTENTIONS

My main intentions for our project are to produce an engaging simulation experience that can provide insight into a real travesty, as well as promote reflective thinking about complex topics. The experience also will encourage “adaptable thinking” as the game focuses on the player utilizing their survival instincts to create pathways to escape.

Networking with Peers, Friends, Family and Contacts

To market my game idea to my intended target audience, I intend to foremost promote it to those who I am in close contact with, hopefully that will spark a chain reaction where individuals can share and talk about my project. Sharing with my friends and family will lead to them sharing with similar groups of people - which would be appropriate for the game’s audience. As I am quite active within different gaming communities, it grants me somewhat of a platform to share my project - some friends have already shown interest in playing some of the earlier prototype versions. Taking control and making the most of social media platforms, like Instagram and discord, will be a good place to start generating interest.

Shows at the end of the year

We will be organizing multiple events throughout next year, where I will invite people from within the industry to attend and view the project I have been working on. This will hopefully function as a networking event and one where I can showcase my work, further generating interest into my game. Our final show will be held in London, which may be more accessible, and therefore I will approach most companies I have interest in, to attend that event. Shows like this will also attract curious members of the public.

Southampton University and Alumni

Being a member of the Games Design and Art course at the University of Southampton, I have access to a large collection of contacts. Firstly, the alumni of my course would be a great starting point as they all share an interest in games and are therefore more likely to attend any showcase events. As my target audience is young adults, the majority of students that attend university fit into this category; it may be possible to contact one of the student groups to share my project through a public email.
